#26 Muddy

July 23, 2008

This was taken during one sukaneka during(again) Bakti Kenyalang… The kids went berserk (haha… exaggeration) and started throwing mud… It was fun…

I always wondered… Is mud dirty? They are basically just wet soil… So I personally don’t think of it as dirty… Well, it looked dirty… But it is just as clean as anything else…

Talking about being clean… Is everyone clean?

To be safe… I’d say no… Hehe…

* * * * *

Today, I witnessed so many things… Some touched me right at my heart… Some made my inner child laughed hard… Some forced me to think in disgust…

  • I saw a homeless or a mad (as in crazy) guy (I guess…) wearing the Jalur Gemilang as kain pelikat… I was in the dilemma whether to laugh and let it be or to be angered at the tainting of the national flag’s sanctity… I chose to let it be… Because it’s the easiest thing to do…
  • Another homeless went to rummage (rings a bell?) dustbins… From one bin to another, he took things… Things that others don’t want… He didn’t take things to earn money… He basically is living on those things… He took a leftover can of 100 Plus and without being hesitant, took a sip… He took another can from another dustbin and drank… His last act hit me… And hit me very hard… He found a disposed nasi lemak… He smelled it to check whether it’s OK or not… And… And… He ate it!!! Sigh… I was caught between pity and disgust… Can’t take it anymore… Chose to walk away…
  • A taxi driver parked his taxi right at the bus stop… A bus came and the bus driver parked in a way that blocked the taxi… The bus driver went away to have his breakfast… The taxi driver went mad (as in angry) and start yelling at the bus driver… The bus driver, showing his authority, ignored him… And a close-quarter combat started… Haha… Grown ups fighting… I find it really amusing… Or rather, self-contradictory…
  • I’m so used to people talking to me in Chinese… I don’t know why… I don’t really have the oriental look… Every time I went out it’ll happen once, at the least… But today… Something different happened… This old Chinese lady asked me about something in Chinese (can’t say it’s cantonese or mandarin)… I replied in English, that I can’t speak Chinese… And the lady became angry… She said that I should learn Chinese and embrace the tradition… I shouldn’t be a banana… Yellow outside but white inside… Haha… I tried to explain that I’m not even a Chinese but the lady stomped (she wore stiletto heels) away in rage… I wasn’t mad (as in angry) or felt guilty… I was actually laughing right on her face… Sorry auntie, but I won’t forgive myself if I don’t laugh at this… Haha… Looks can be deceiving…
